Emily Tanski is a Cleveland-based culinary creative, event curator, and community builder — and the founder of MOJA Culinary + Creative Studio. Her work sits at the intersection of food, culture, and connection.
With a background in food science and over a decade of immersive culinary experience — including vineyard + kitchen experience in Tuscany, sustainable farm work in Kentucky, and culinary deep-dives across Croatia, Cuba, Guatemala, and beyond — Emily brings both rigor and soul to every experience she creates. She is also the host of the Santé Supper Club, a spirit-free, chef-driven community supper club rooted in the belief that the best meals are the ones that make room for everyone.
Jadine Murray
Breathwork + Yoga Instructor
Jadine Murray is a certified Trauma-Informed Breathwork Teacher, Mind-Body Medicine Facilitator, and Applied Educational Neuroscience Practitioner — and the Founder of The Breathing Teacher, a wellness education brand rooted in nervous system support, embodiment, and lasting change.
After burning out as an educator in 2013, Jadine began her own healing journey through yoga and breathwork — and spent the years that followed learning everything about how the body holds stress, how breath regulates the nervous system, and how to teach others to come back to themselves. She holds certifications in Trauma-Informed Breathwork, Yoga, and Prenatal Teaching, Advanced Mind-Body Medicine, Sound Healing, and Applied Educational Neuroscience, and has spent 15 years teaching and coaching in classrooms, boardrooms, and sacred spaces.

Fly into La Aurora International Airport (GUA) in Guatemala City. No visa is required for US citizens. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months after February 6, 2027.
From there, travel to Antigua Guatemala (~45 min by shuttle). We strongly recommend arriving in Antigua the day before the retreat begins (January 31) to acclimate, explore, and rest before we depart for the lake.
A full Antigua guide — including where to stay, eat, and how to get around — will be sent to all confirmed participants.
We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance that includes trip cancellation, medical coverage, and emergency evacuation. Guatemala is generally safe for travelers, and this retreat takes place in an established eco-resort, but coverage protects your investment and gives you peace of mind.
-
This retreat is intentionally small — a maximum of 12 participants + guides and facilitators. The small group size is by design: it allows for genuine connection, personalized attention, and the kind of intimacy that makes a shared week like this actually transformative.
-
No — Rooted is a co-ed retreat, open to all, and we welcome anyone who feels called to this experience. No prior experience is needed.
Whether you cook every day or haven't turned on your stove in months, this week meets you exactly where you are. The goal isn't technique. It's a connection to the food, the land, and the people around the table.
First time for breathwork? No problem! Jadine Murray's sessions are designed to be accessible to all levels and all bodies. You'll be guided every step of the way. All you need to bring is a willingness to breathe, move, and be present.
-
Yes. All meals are prepared fresh on-site using locally sourced ingredients. Please note any dietary restrictions, allergies, or preferences in your booking inquiry and we'll ensure the kitchen team is informed. Traditional Mayan cuisine is naturally rich in plant-based ingredients, so most dietary needs can be accommodated with advance notice.
-
You'll have a roommate for the week — 1-2 other participants in a beautifully appointed room, each with your own twin bed and access to shared bathrooms and common areas. Email mojaculinary@gmail.com to discuss room pairing preferences.

Retreat Cancellation by MOJA In the event that MOJA Culinary + Creative Studio determines the retreat must be cancelled for any reason and is not rescheduled, all confirmed attendees will be notified as soon as possible and will receive a full refund of their retreat balance — including the deposit — OR a retreat credit valid for 2 years toward any future MOJA retreat or event. MOJA is not responsible for any refunds or credits outside of the retreat itself (i.e. travel, insurance, etc.).
No cash refunds will be issued. All credits are non-transferable and valid only toward future MOJA Culinary + Creative Studio retreats or events within 2 years of the event.
Travel Insurance We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance that covers trip cancellation. Unexpected things happen — protect your investment. We recommend reaching out to your local travel agent to explore options. Rooted and MOJA Culinary + Creative Studio do not offer travel insurance and are not responsible for losses arising from natural disasters, political conflicts, government travel advisories, or any other circumstances beyond our control.
